Traditional sector antennas emit a signal in a wide but very flat pattern with many undesirable side lobes that change with frequency. This type of radiation is a source of unwanted interference and problems when deploying antennas in the same location. Symmetrical sector antennas offer a radiation pattern with a unique shape and characteristics. Part of the beam has a circular shape, meaning that the vertical and horizontal beamwidths are identical. The radiation does not change with frequency, and the antenna gain is balanced across a wide frequency range.

Coverage Without Dead Zones

The coverage of traditional sector antennas has a specific shape—if the AP is too high, nearby clients suffer from poor signal quality. Symmetrical sector antennas emit a symmetrical signal with a circular beam, similar to the light from a torch. As a result, the coverage from symmetrical sector antennas is almost free of dead zones, and even clients located close to the AP will be satisfied.
