Ubiquiti UniFi AI Key

Specialized Edge AI device enabling any UniFi Protect solution to be extended with proactive threat detection and AI-based alerting.

The device can process up to 1800 smart detections per hour (1000 detections with facial recognition and license plate recognition) and adds advanced features such as facial recognition, license plate recognition, and natural language search (English only).

Compact aluminum design measuring 134.2 × 131.2 × 33.7 mm contains a powerful Arm® Cortex®-A78AE v8.2 processor, 16 GB LPDDR5 memory, and 256GB SSD storage. The device is powered via PoE++ (50–57 V) with a maximum consumption of 45 W and features a 1.3" touchscreen display for basic control. AI Key is compatible with all UniFi Protect cameras supporting smart detections including G4, G5, G6, and AI series.

Compatibility and Performance
AI Key works with all UniFi Protect cameras supporting smart detections (G4, G5, G6, AI Series, and cameras connected via AI Port). It achieves best results with AI Series cameras, which provide higher quality detections with greater range. Speech transcription is available only with AI Series cameras supporting voice detection. An unlimited number of AI Key devices can be connected to one console.

Detection Processing
The device processes smart detections in order of receipt through an internal queue with a capacity of 200 events. When the queue capacity is exceeded, excess detections are discarded. A full queue can cause processing delays of up to 15 minutes. For high-traffic environments or large numbers of active cameras, using multiple AI Key devices is recommended.

Facial Recognition and License Plate Recognition
AI Key adds facial recognition and license plate recognition functionality for G4 and G5 cameras with higher capacity than AI Port. While AI Port offers real-time processing, AI Key results depend on the processing queue length. Both solutions can be combined according to specific installation needs.

Does AI Key provide the same benefit for all Protect camera models?

AI Key is only as good as the data provided by the cameras. Protect AI series cameras offer detections at greater distances and in higher quality, which gives AI Key a wider coverage range. Any event that the camera does not recognize as a smart detection will not be processed by AI Key.

Speech transcription is available only with Protect AI series cameras that support smart speech detections.

How accurate is *natural language search in AI Key?

Natural language search (*English only) in AI Key is ideal for finding specific detections using simple phrases like "FedEx truck" or "person walking a dog". It works best with short queries related to people and vehicles. Only detections processed by AI Key are included in the results.

The models used by AI Key provide enhanced functionality, but may occasionally return inaccurate results. Over time, these models will be optimized to improve accuracy and add additional features.

Does AI Key integrate with Alarm Manager?

Yes, AI Key integrates with Alarm Manager. Up to five natural language search queries (English) can be configured to trigger alarms when matches exceed the selected confidence threshold.

How does AI Key process smart detections?

AI Key processes smart detections in the order they are received through an internal queue.

Queue limit: 200 events (excess detections are discarded).
Recommendation: If the queue is frequently overloaded, use additional AI Keys or reduce the number of paired cameras.

How long does it take AI Key to process detections?
